August 1, 2024
Moscow, August 1st , 2024 – On July 31, 1958, all three types of ground public transport in Moscow – bus, trolleybus, tram – were organizationally united into a single production and technological complex, the Passenger Transport Directorate, the successor of which is the currently existing State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans.
Russia’s largest operator of surface public transportation serves more than 700 routes in the capital. About three million passengers use them daily. About 23 thousand employees work to ensure that passengers travel safely, on time and in comfort.
Mosgortrans is an industry leader keeping up with the times. Diesel buses are being replaced by modern, technologically advanced electric buses produced domestically. Today there are more than 1,800 such vehicles in the fleet. This summer, the company started to renew its electric bus fleet – over 120 KAMAZ and LIAZ electric buses with updated design and advanced services were put on new routes.
During the year, Mosgortrans launched over 600 electric buses and replaced buses on more than 60 routes. The SVARZ plant assembled 1,250 new stop pavilions with video surveillance, USB sockets for charging mobile devices and lighting. The Social Taxi service for low mobility citizens fulfilled over 85 thousand requests. Tourist class buses made almost five thousand trips on the interregional route to Novomoskovsk.
Mosgortrans is also actively engaged in the development of river transportation. Reconstruction of the Northern and Southern river terminals returned the capital to the status of a port of five seas. During the summer navigation cruise vessels travel to 50 major cities and settlements of the country. 20% more passengers started traveling on river cruises. River terminals have become popular venues for family vacations for residents and guests of the capital. Mosgortrans held about 800 free events at the Northern and Southern river terminals.
“Mosgortrans supports the capital’s status as one of the world leaders in the development and use of electric transport. We are the first in Europe in terms of the number of innovative electric buses, there are already more than 1,800 of them. Over the year, the number of weekday trips on all bus and electric bus routes has increased by 10%. We continue to improve the quality of service for our passengers, as instructed by the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin”, – said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
