Liebherr Strengthens Cooperation with KAMAZ

logo-kamaz_1Naberezhnye Chelny, December 30, 2013 – KAMAZ OJSC and the Swiss company Liebherr have signed a preliminary agreement to set up a production operation to manufacture a range of KAMAZ inline 6-cylinder, 12-liter engines.

The contract signed by Dr Willi Liebherr, President of Administrative Board Liebherr-International AG and Sergey Kogogin, General Director (CEO) of KAMAZ, represents the development and production cooperation of a range of Euro V diesel and CNG engines and subsequently Euro VI engines, on the premises of KAMAZ OJSC.

According to Irek Gumerov, Deputy General Director of KAMAZ OJSC – Director for Business Development who attended the meeting, now that Russia has joined the WTO and the environmental requirements have become more stringent, the development of this new family of engines for KAMAZ is timely and necessary.

It should be mentioned that three racing trucks of the KAMAZ-master team which will participate in Dakar-2014 international rally in January 2014 are equipped with Liebherr engines.
