Electric bus depot Saltykovka to support Moscow’s ecology
June 26, 2024
Moscow, Jun 26, 2024 – The home for electric buses Saltykovka /Салтыковка/ has been operating for half a year already. Today the newest electric bus depot serves eight routes of surface transport in 16 districts of the capital and tree cities of Moscow suburbs. For six months almost 4.4 million trips were made on electric buses.
The depot Saltykovka became the 3rd home for electric buses, after Krasnaya Pakhra and Mitino. It brought more environmentally friendly public transport to the east of Moscow, and provided residents with new jobs close to home. In addition, it became more comfortable for them to get to the railway stations and social facilities.
Krasnaya Pakhra, Mitino and Saltykovka depots are the only surface transportation depots in Russia designed to ensure uninterrupted operation of a large number of electric vehicles. All electric buses are Russian-made and are serviced under life cycle contracts. This means that from the moment of transfer to the Mosgortrans fleet, during 15 years, the manufacturer is fully responsible for the technical serviceability of each electric bus. This guarantees the safety of transportation and, consequently, of passengers.
The Saltykovka electric bus depot has 78 charging stations. They are powered by 13 ultrafast stations with a dynamic charge distribution system. This domestic development ensures the simultaneous operation of six charging stations for electric buses, which allows to speed up the vehicles’ access to the line.
For pre-trip and post-trip check-ups of drivers, equipment with a telemedicine system is available in the depot. Drivers can measure their own blood pressure, pulse, temperature, check the presence of ethanol vapors in the body. Once identified in the system, they answer questions about their well-being. The procedure takes place in the park under the supervision of medical staff. With the full transition of Mosgortrans to telemedicine, the examination will be supervised by a medical worker connected remotely. The use of this technology makes it possible to reduce the time of pre-trip check-up to tree minutes, speed up the driver’s departure for the line, improve the quality of passenger service and travel safety.
The special contribution of the Saltykovka electric bus depot to improving the ecology of the Russian capital has been repeatedly recognized by federal and international awards and competitions. Last week, the electric bus depot won the national award Ecotech-Leader 2024 in the nomination Best Environmental Program of an Enterprise. Mosgortrans is constantly introducing new solutions to provide the capital with the most modern environmentally friendly transportation.
“Today the depot Saltykovka provides the output of 100 electric buses of Russian production on eight city routes. On weekdays the citizens make more than 35 thousand trips on them. We continue to develop environmentally friendly public transportation and improve the quality of passenger service on behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin,” – added Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
