COMTRANS 2017 – Facts and figures

Moscow, September 1, 2017 – The organizers of the COMTRANS International Commercial Vehicle Show are ITEMF Expo and OAR (The Association of Russian Automakers). The Exhibition is included in the official calendar of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) and is held biennially. It is the leading fair for commercial vehicles in Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe.
COMTRANS is supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industries of Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Association of European Businesses (AEB).
The Exhibition’s main sections: trucks and vans / buses and LCV / trailers and semi-trailers / all-terrain vehicles and off-roaders / communal automotive vehicles / components and spare parts / lubricants / tires / tools and workshop equipment / leasing / insurance services.

A number of premières and innovations will be presented at the show:
SCANIA will demonstrate the Next Generation technology, that includes SCANIA S 500 and SCANIA R 500, which are characterized by highly economic fuel consumption.
Seven Volvo trucks will be placed at the Volvo Trucks stand. The stars of the highway are the Volvo FH Viking, the Volvo FH Ocean Race, the 500-hp Volvo FH 6×2 long-haul truck. The heroes of construction sites: Volvo FMX 8×4 Tridem with Wielton Konisch dump body, Volvo FMX 6×6 with Meiller reinforced dump body, Volvo FM 6×4. During the COMTRANS all of the Volvo Trucks stand visitors will have a unique opportunity to see the two world speed record holder for the distance of 500 m and 1000 m – Volvo Iron Knight truck with a 2400 hp engine capacity and I-Shift Dual Clutch automatic transmission.
KAMAZ will present at the show a vehicle with a principally new cab – K5. Also at the stand a range of new KAMAZ trucks will be demonstrated together with electric buses, driverless vehicles, compressed gas vehicles, dump trucks, buses and a wide spectrum of special purpose vehicles.
GAZ Group will show the first autonomous minibus and an electric minibus GAZelle Next, equipped with a wide range of elements of the active driver assistance system (ADAS).
AVTOVAZ is going to present LADA Largus van, which confidently occupies its niche on the Russian market. The car has won three in a row prestigious national “The Car of the Year in Russia” awards in the nomination Mini-vans. LADA Vesta CNG is a modification that allows to use two types of fuel: compressed natural gas (methane) and petrol. Also at the stand visitors will be able to see: LADA Granta van modification for transportation of merchandise goods, isothermal van LADA 4×4 and other products of the manufacturer.
For the first time DAF will present the new DAF XF 480 FT Super Space Cab, which will be available in Russia at the beginning of next year. Also on the stand it will be possible to see popular in the Russian market models, including the flagship of sales – DAF FT XF 105.460 Super tractor Space Cab and multipurpose DAF FTT CF 85.460 not to mention other new products at the company’s stand.
The ISUZU’s stand is going to show the top models of its product range, as well as the Russian market novelty – modified Isuzu chassis with gas engines, Isuzu FORWARD 18.0 LONG with a van-refrigerator and a tail lift (an all-wheel drive vehicle on the Isuzu NMS85 chassis), also an Isuzu NPR82 / CNG chassis with a gas engine that was not previously available on Russian market.
MAN will present the world’s premiere: visitors of the show will be the first ones in the world to see the new tourist coach – MAN Lion`s Coach. Also at the stand visitors will see the flagship of the freight trucks of the MAN TGX series equipped with the Euro 5 class engine, the exclusive series of the new generation of trucks – MAN TGX Performance Line Edition, multisided MAN TGS for heavy duty and much more.
Press Day / VIP Day will be held on the 4 September (only media and VIP guests have access to the show).
During the day there will be held 18 press conferences organized by main manufacturing companies such as UAZ, Daimler Kamaz RUS / FUSO, Mercedes-Benz RUS, FORD, Hyundai Truck&Bus RUS, Volkswagen, Isuzu RUS, MAN Truck & Bus RUS, Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, GAZ Group, Scania RUS, DAF Trucks RUS, Minsk Auto Plant (МАZ), Iveco Russia, FAW, Schmitz Cargobull, KOEGEL Trailer.
Due to a big number of press conferences, the media events will be continued the next day, on 5 September, for example, with WIELTON and KAMAZ press-conferences.
The Opening Ceremony of the exhibition will take place on the 5 September, at 12-30 a.m.
The officials of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Trade and Industries of the Russian Federation, State Duma of the Russian Federation, OICA are invited to speak at the Opening Ceremony.
The COMTRANS fair will for the first time host The Moscow Commercial Vehicle Summit (5-6 September).
The 1st day (5 September, Tuesday) is devoted to trucks (freight traffic, trucks manufacturers, logistics services, cargo vehicles management) – «cargo vehicles day». Current governmental policy and strategies in the field of the commercial transport, as well as innovations in the industry, will be discussed.
The major manufacturers are speaking on the topics, including KAMAZ, GAZ Group, MAN Trucks and Bus, Volvo, Scania, DAF, Iveco and Ford Sollers.
The leading cargo carriers and developers of aggregators for commercial vehicles are taking part in discussions. During the session “Innovations in commercial transport”, a cooperation agreement between the online cargo service Deliver and the telematics solutions integrator JSC “Group T-1” (member of Renova Group) will be signed. The companies will present a joint solution for monitoring and controlling of transport, that Deliver’s carriers can use.
The 2nd day (6 September, Wednesday) is focused on the passenger automotive road transport – «passenger vehicles day», i.e. innovations in the field of passenger and commercial vehicles of up to 16 tons will be discussed.
GAZ Group, Sollers Holding, AVTOVAZ, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Volkswagen, Hino Motors Sales, Isuzu, Hyundai Trucks and Bus are speaking during the plenary session.
The CEOs of manufacturer-companies, representatives from professional associations (OICA, OAR, RAS, Russian Engineering Union, IRU) together with the governmental authorities (Ministry of Trade and Industries, Ministry of Transport, the Committee of Transport of the State Duma of the Russian Federation) are participating in the Summit. The co-organizer of the summit is the Association of European Business (AEB) in Russia supported by the Association of Russian Automakers (OAR) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU).
The partners of the Summit are Shell Oil, Gazprom GMT, Delovie Linii, T-1 Group.
The highlight event at COMTRANS fair will be the 17th annual award ceremony of the “Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia” contest www.bcvrus.ru. The ceremony will be held on 4 September 2017 at 06:30 p.m. The “Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia” contest is an annual non-profit event. It is aimed at selecting, on the basis of the expert opinion of the jury, the best commercial vehicle in Russia in the following nominations: Truck of the year / Van of the year / Bus of the year / Prospect of the year / Special Award. Also, for the first time in the history of the contest there will be two new nominations: Trailer/semitrailer of the year / Person of the year. The Jury of the contest consists of the prominent journalists of the specialized Russian magazines and media covering the automotive transport industry. The author of the contest’s concept and the president of the jury is Alexander Solntsev – the editor-in-chief of the KomTrans magazine.
